An artist's proof is the pulled print through which the artist and printmaker have collectively decided that the edition was "bon a' tirer" (ready to run). These proofs were the first to confirm the image and to green light the printing of the edition assuring its quality and value. For wine lovers, this is similar to "premier cru". As there are only five per edition here, they, like all artist proofs, are slightly more expensive.

In 2017, I had the privilege of visiting the caves at Peche Merle in Southwestern France and I was fascinated with the imagery created 20,000 years ago. The sound of water was the restless voice in the cave, making one think of a timelessness in the importance of water in its role of sustaining all life. This image features shapes from the cave walls drawn by prehistoric artists with the relentless image of flowing water moving through everything.

Made with 45 handmade color plates and 1 blended roller technique. Each print is 32” x 40” printed on a 36” x 45” sheet of 320g Coventry Rag paper with inks handmade by the printmaker Michael Raburn using Quality Inks of Phoenix, Arizona.
